‘Ladies and gentlemen, grandfathers, grandmothers, spinsters, maiden aunts and octogenarians. Welcome to Calpurnia, a city in mourning. Today is the day when we officially, give up the search for the lost children of Calpurnia. One year ago the monster Rushwilden, heaven bless him, stole our children from us. We searched high and low, we searched near and far, but unearthed not even a gummi bear to indicate their whereabouts. Today, my friends, it is time to give up the search…’
Welcome to the blog for The Lost Children Musical!
The
Lost Children has been performed in several schools, both state and independent, both UK and international. If you are a Drama Teacher, Head of Drama, youth theatre worker or just interested in putting on a play, this could be the perfect script for you!
Designed for children in Key Stage 2/3 (aged 7-14), its large cast provides
ample flexibility for any group of young actors, be they experienced, novice or mixed ability. It can also be performed by an adult cast of
four for a young audience. It requires minimal staging and all the music is available on CD, both instrumental for performance and with guide vocals for rehearsal.

“The Lost Children was our Middle School musical last year and the students had an amazing time rehearsing and performing. The characters were funny, the story was compelling and the songs were really memorable. The parents who came to watch seemed to love it as much as we did. I’d definitely recommend The Lost Children for other schools!” Michelle Connell, Director of Drama, St Helens School (2017)
"As a Drama teacher with years of experience in international schools I'm always looking for scripts that are accessible, exciting, funny and compelling... The Lost Children ticked all the boxes and then some!" Donna Youngblood, Head of Drama, International Community School, Amman, Jordan (2015)
"The great thing about this musical was the ease with which it could be rehearsed. As far as staging is concerned your own limits are budget and imagination, and all the music is right there on CD." Jeff Bergman, Head of Music, International Community School, Amman, Jordan (2015)
"The workshop reading at the Bossayni Studio brilliant. I was delighted to then invite Alex to stage a performance with our students. They loved every moment of it, from read through to finale!" John Quillfeldt, Deputy Head of Haydon School (2009)

"Alex Williams held a first reading of The Lost Children in our studio and the audience loved it. It was engaging, heart-warming and fast-moving. I have no
doubt that it would be delightful with a student
cast and appropriate both for a young audience AND for their parents."
Ann Mannion, Artistic Director of the Bossanyi Studio (2008)
